Another option for hikers away from the crowds 😀 Our absolute number 1! Saona Island for 2 days and an evening tour of Santo Domingo.
On the first day we realize excursion program SAONA ISLAND A TASTE OF ADVENTURE (WITHOUT COMMERCE). This means an early departure from hotels on the north coast, followed by an approximately 5.5-hour drive to the south. Here in the port town of Bayahibe we will get on our private motor boat, to circumnavigate the most interesting backstreets of Saona Island. Before reaching the island, we will admire the the shores of Cotubanama National Park, bathe in natural swimming pool while sipping cuba libre and wandering around mangroves.
The rest of the cruise will give us an insight into the Saona's most beautiful beaches: main swimming area with the famous leaning palm tree, beach in the blue lagoon, gorgeous beach in the far east, finally an atmospheric beach of the Caribbean Mano Juan villages. On each of them there will be some free time for relaxation, swimming, photos, walks... So far the itinerary is identical to the 1-day variant.
However, Saona Island for 2 days allows us to extend our moments in paradise!!! 🙂 Instead of regretfully departing the island after a few hours of beachcombing, we will stay overnight in a charming The fishing village of Mano Juan - The only human settlement on the island!
It's a wonderful feeling to experience a night under a starry sky, between palm trees, and in a silence flashed only by the sound of the ocean 🙂 Naccommodation At the fishermen, clean and modest, but the joy is often greater than in a 5* hotel
On the second day, after breakfast on the beach, tour the village and learn about "turtle kindergarten. This is where sea turtles hatch from eggs previously collected on the beach, in order to provide them with a proper protection.Â
Then until about noon there will be free time for Beachcombing and independent exploration of the area. Then the common dinner under the palms And finally, in the early afternoon, return from the island To the marina in Bayahibe.Â
After about 2 hours of driving, we will arrive at the Santo Domingo, Where we will set off for a late-afternoon city tour. There are hardly any tourists in the capital at this time, the colonial streets are quiet. When the lanterns light up, buildings take on charm, which we do not experience during the day.
